Calls Increase For Full Inquiry In Mother And Baby Homes

Calls have been made for a full inquiry into all mother and baby homes, following the scandal of a mass unmarked grave containing up to 800 bodies of children and babies in Tuam.

Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn has said that he supports a call for a full independent commission of investigation with judicial powers, made yesterday by the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin.

In a report by RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Minister Quinn said it would now be for the Minister for Children Charlie Flanagan to report to the Cabinet on how to proceed.
