Final Position Paper Presented To Bausch + Lomb Workers

A final position paper has been presented to workers at Waterford's Bausch + Lomb plant.

The paper follows talks on cost reduction measures the owners of the firm wanted to introduce.

The company had been seeking savings of €20m, pay cuts of 20% and 200 redundancies.

The final position paper now shows that firm are asking for core salary cuts of 7.5%. However, when cuts to bonuses and shift allowances are added, the cuts increase to 14/15%. They are still seeking 200 redundancies.

This would see the company saving €18.5m.

A deadline for a decision on the proposal, put to staff by SIPTU at a mass meeting on Thursday night, has been set for 17 June.
