GOAL Workers Abducted In Sudan

Irish Aid agency GOAL has reported two of its Sudanese workers "unaccounted for" after an incident occurred in the Darfur region.

The staff were abducted by an unknown group at Kutum town in North Darfur on Wednesday.

A third agency worker is also missing and a driver was also abducted but has since been released.

The staff were carrying out a routine assignment when they were abducted.

GOAL has contacted relatives of the staff members abducted.

14-Year-Old Boy Rescued Following Kidnapping In Finglas
A 14-year-old boy was rescued from the boot of a car after being abducted by a group of men. A 20-year-old man was arrested by armed gardaí officers who began chasing a vehicle driving erratically shortly after reports that a child had been abducted on Hazelcroft Road in Finglas.

Man Arrested After Woman Abducted From Her Home In Co Longford
A man has been arrested after a woman was abducted from her home in Co Longford. The incident happened near Edgeworthstown just after 4pm on Saturday. The mother-of-four was violently abducted from her home when she was looking after her children. Three other children were also in the house at the time.

Man Abducted In Co Cavan Found 'Safe And Well'
A man who was abducted in Co Cavan yesterday afternoon (8 October) has been found "safe and well". It is understood just before 10am today, gardaí received a phone call informing them that 31-year-old Richard O'Donovan was safe.

Child Abduction Alert System Launched
More than three years since being given the go-ahead a long awaited Amber Alert system for abducted children has been rolled out across Ireland. The Child Rescue Ireland (CRI) Alert will be triggered if gardai believe a child has been abducted and that there is an immediate and serious risk to his or her health or welfare.

Man Arrested After Teen Abducted
A man has been arrested in connection with an incdent of abduction in Dublin yesterday, when a teenager was bundled into a car boot. Gardaí at Swords are investigating the alledged assault and subsequent abduction that occurred at Beaverstown Road, Donabate, shortly before 5.30am yesterday morning.
