Two Boys Drown In Separate Incidents

Two boys have died in separate drowning incidents in Dublin and Cavan.

A five-year-old boy is understood to have drowned in a pond in the Belgree Lawns area in Tyrrelstown. The child's body was recovered from the water at about 10:30 on Monday morning, after being reported missing an hour earlier.

The child's death is not being treated as suspicious but garda are investigating the circumstances.

In Cavan, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a lake at Killykeen Forest Park at about 15:00.

It is understood that the teenager got into difficulty while swimming.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out later today.

A body has been recovered from a river in Melbourne following the search for a missing Irish tourist. Victoria police divers recovered the body of the man in the Yarra River yesterday at about 12.30am. The 27-year-old, believed to be from Clondalkin, has yet to be identified.
