Marriage Equality Referendum Set For Spring 2015

The Marriage Equality referendum will take place in spring next year, the Taoiseach Enda Kenny has told the Dáil.

Mr Kenny made the announcement in response to the issue being raised by Sinn Séin leader Gerry Adams, who had called on the government to set a date.

The Taoiseach told the Dáil that the referendum would happen in spring 2015.

Ombudsman's Concern At Limited Children's Referendum
The Ombudsman for Children has said she is opposed to holding a limited referendum dealing only with child protection, which may run on the same day as the Lisbon Treaty referendum. Emily Logan said she did not support the calls to hold two separate referendums on children's rights and child protection.

Marriage Equality Referendum Slated For 22 May
The same-sex marriage referendum is slated to be held on Friday 22 May. The date was suggested by Taoiseach Enda Kenny during an interview on RTÉ's Prime Time, during which the Taoiseach said the referendum was about tolerance, respect and sensitivity.

Fine Gael Launch Yes Marriage Equality Referendum
Fine Gael has launched its 'Yes' campaign ahead of the marriage equality referendum to be held on Friday 22 May. The campaign was launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, the party's Director of Elections Simon Coveney, Minister Frances Fitzgerald, Minister Leo Varadkar and the Chair of the Fine Gael LGBT Group, Jerry Buttimer TD.

No New Abortion Referendum, Says Taoiseach
There will be no new referendum on the issue of abortion in Ireland, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said. The government set out its formal decision on the issue in December, and its intention to deal with the ABC case by way of legislation and regulations, Mr Kenny said while speaking in Dundalk on Thursday.

Spring Clean For Limerick
Hundreds of community groups from across Co Limerick are expected to participate in the 2010 Spring Clean Campaign, details of which were announced today. Limerick County Council, in conjunction with An Taisce, is once again asking groups to register their planned clean up as part of the 12th annual National Spring Clean Campaign.
