'Five Shows Or None' - Garth Brooks Issues Ultimatum

Following the decision by Dublin City Council to grant a licence for three of five planned concerts by Garth Brooks at Croke Park, the American country singer has issued a statement saying that it is "five shows or none at all".

The statement read: "I can't thank the people of Ireland enough for how welcome they have made me feel.

"I have faith that Dublin City Council will make the best decision for the people of Ireland.

"For us, it is five shows or none at all. To choose which shows to do and which shows not to do, would be like asking to choose one child over another."

Some 400,000 tickets have been sold for the five nights of sold out shows, however, tickets were released months prior to a licence to hold the shows was applied for, and in spite of an agreement from the GAA that no more than three shows would take place at the sports ground per year.

It is understood that DCC took the decision to only grant a licence for three shows as it did not want to set a precedent of allowing an increased number of events at Croke Park.
