Govt Seek Contractors For Badger Cull

In an ongoing effort to tackle tuberculosis in cattle, the department of agriculture are seeking contractors to conduct a cull of up to 12,000 badgers over the next two years.

It is understood that the cull contract, which will see the animals captured and killed, could be worth up to €2m.

Opponents of the tactic of animal culling say that killing badger sis ineffective at stopping TB outbreaks in cattle.

A recent cull established in England was abandoned amid opposition and low success rates.
