€23m Funding Secured For Research Projects
Government funding of €23m is to be shared forty research projects in Ireland as part of two Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) schemes.
The SFI has said that the funding will help to keep talented young researchers in Ireland, with the Starting Investigator Research Grant and Career Development Award Programmes funding projects in sustainable and renewable energy, cancer research, neurological disorders and immunology, amongst others.
The Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation is providing the funding.

€13.5m Funding Into Health Research
€13.5m is to go towards funding for new health research projects announced today by Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar. A total of 36 projects are being supported by the Health Research Board (HRB) over the next three to five years, including research into cancer, asthma, kidney injuries and antibiotics.

€7m Funding For 62 Research Projects
The government is set to announce almost €7m of funding for 62 early stage scientific research projects. The funding will be part of the Foundation Ireland's Technology Innovation Development Award programme, will be in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland and will be targeted at projects thought to have a commercial benefit.
