Cabinet Reshuffle 'Pointless Without Political Shame' - SF
Following a final set of talks held last night between Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tánaiste Joan Burton, a cabinet reshuffle is expected to be announced today.
Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams however has said that without a change in "political direction", a "change of faces … around the table" is pointless.
Mr Adams made the comments on Thursday night, saying: "A change of faces around the Cabinet table without a change of political direction by the Government will be pointless.
"For those struggling families bearing the brunt of austerity, a Cabinet re-shuffle is of no consequence unless it means a genuinely new political direction that can bring positive change to their daily lives.
"What citizens voted for in May, as they did in the General Election in 2011, was political change. But the Government has let the people down and has no mandate for what it's doing.
"The last thing we need from is more of the same. Unless the cabinet reshuffle is accompanied by a radical change of political direction it will be a non-event."
