Man Dies After Diving Expedition

A man has died following a diving expedition off the coast of Inisboffin, Co Galway.

It is understood that a group of 12 people had been diving close to the East Harbour in Inishboffin and that the man, aged in his 40s, collapsed after resurfacing at about 14:30 on Monday.

According to reports the man was treated at the scene by a local nurse before being airlifted to Mayo General Hospital.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out today.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two Killed In Separate Drownings
Gardai are investigating two separate drownings in which a man and woman died. The body of a man was found on Lahinch beach in Co. Clare on Monday night. It is believed that the body is that of a 19-year-old man from Clontarf in Co.

Contracts Awarded For Raising Trawlers
The government has awarded a contract to raise two fishing vessels, which sank off the southeast coast of Ireland. The contract for raising the 'Pere Charles' and the 'Maggie B' has been awarded to north Co Dublin company Irish Diving Contractors.
