Manhole Explodes In Dublin
An investigation has been launched in Dublin city centre after a manhole cover blew on Friday morning.
It is understood the incident happened at the junction of Merrion Street and Baggot Street at 10.20am. Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the lid of the manhole lifted a few feet in the air in the explosion.
Dublin Fire Brigade has said eircom, ESB and a gas company are at the scene to try and determine the cause of the blast.

Woman And Child Hit By Car While Walking On Dublin Street
A woman has been killed after being hit by a car as she pushed a pram along a Dublin street. Gardaí have reported that the woman in her 30s was killed and a child injured when they were hit by a car on the main Dublin Road into Balbriggan. The child is being treated at Temple Street Children's Hospital.

Dublin Fire Brigade Responds To 1,100 Calls On Halloween Night
Dublin Fire Brigade has revealed it responded to 1,100 emergency calls during Halloween night. On what is normally the service's busiest night of the year, there were also reports of attacks on fire crews while Dublin Bus was forced to withdraw its service in part of the city.

Dublin Fire Brigade's Halloween Safety Campaign, 'Be Safe Been Seen' has been launched at Dublin Fire HQ by tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh. The Fire Brigade will work with Dublin Bus, An Garda Siochana and the DSPCA in an effort to inform young people about the dangers of illegal bonfires and fireworks.
