Inmate Dies At Mountjoy Prison
An investigation has been launched after an inmate was found dead in a cell at Mountjoy Prison.
It is understood the man, who was in his 30s, was found collapsed in his cell at around 3.30am on Saaturday morning.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later. A post-mortem will be carried out.
No further details are available.

Mentally Ill Man Given Life For Manslaughter
A man who killed a fellow inmate at Mountjoy prison while mentally ill has been sentenced to life. Stephen Egan, 25, of Belcamp Crescent, Coolock, Dublin, was jailed for the manslaughter of 20-year old Dubliner Gary Douche.

Gardaí Probing Two Deaths At Midlands Prison
An investigation has been launched into the deaths of two prisoners in the space of 10 days at the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise. The first inmate died some time between the evening of Sunday 27 January and the following morning. Another prisoner was found dead in his cell on Tuesday 05 February.

Man Found Dead In Co Laois
An investigation has launched after a man was found dead at a house in County Laois. According to reports, the 54-year-old was discovered at the bottom of the stairs of a house in Rathdowney at around 10.30pm. The death is not being treated as suspicious and gardai are continuing to investigate.

The funeral of a 19-year-old found dead at a house in Co Monaghon has taken place at St Patrick's Church, Corracin, today. Jason McGovern's body was discovered on New Year's Eve after being attacked twice in Omagh, Co Tyrone, the night before. Five men and a teen have been charged with affray.
