Construction Of New Endoscopy Unit At RCH Underway
Construction of a new €6m Endoscopy Unit at Roscommon County Hospital (RCH) has gotten underway, as part of a €20m upgrade of the site.
Welcoming the news of the start of work, Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, said: "I look forward to the completion of this 14,000 square foot unit, which is set to become a diagnostic centre for the Western region and will facilitate a range of scope procedures for patients, including colonoscopies.
"It is also hoped the service will be widened to offer bronchoscopy, cystoscopy and a range of other similar scope services.
"I gave a commitment to secure significant investment for Roscommon Hospital and the Endoscopy Suite is part of a €20 million investment earmarked for the hospital. The other flagship projects are a Rehab Unit and a Hospice Care Centre.
"I am glad to say that the County Hospital is now safer and busier. I am also delighted at the great reaction by staff and management to this Endoscopy Unit who understand that these developments have safeguarded the future of the hospital and all the jobs there."
