Campaigners Protest Planned Over Badger Cull

Protests have been held outside the office of Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney over plans to cull 12,000 badgers.

The department says the cull will be conducted over the next two years in an effort to stop the spread of tuberculosis in cattle.

It is currently seeking contractors to carry out the cull.

Opponents claim that culling badgers is ineffective against bovine TB and have urged the government to find a more humane solution, such as vaccinations.
