Gardaí Search For Hit-And-Run Driver

Gardaí are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident, after a 12-year-old boy was hit while crossing Thomas Davis Street in the Blackpool area at about 21:50.

The boy is being treated at Cork University Hospital, where he is said to be in a "comfortable condition".

Gardaí say that the car had a number of passengers on board when it hit the boy. The vehicle failed to stop and continued on toward Cork city centre.

It is described as a silver car, with a yellow licence plate.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the hit-and-run, or anyone with any information to contact them.

However, he has now been found and Gardaí wish to express their thanks to all members of the public and media for their assistance.

Woman Dies After Cork Hit-And-Run
An 85-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Co Cork has died in hospital. The woman was struck by a car on the N25 in Castlemartyr village, just after 7am on Tuesday. Gardaí said that the car, described as small and dark-coloured, failed to stop. The driver is being sought.

Two gardaí officers have received hospital treatment after their patrol car was involved in a collision. The patrol car collided with a car at around 11:00 on Thursday in Kilmallock in Co Limerick, according to a report by the Irish Independent.

Eight Arrested In Dundalk Murder Inquiry
Gardaí investigating the murder of Aidan Myers in Dundalk last year have arrested eight people. Six men and two women were arrested this morning. It is understood that four men, aged 19 and 26, are being questioned in relation to Mr Myers' murder, while two men and two women are being questioned on suspicion of withholding information.
