Gardaí Investigate Shooting In Cork City

Gardaí in Cork are investigating a shooting in the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They report that a shooting took place on St Michael's Drive, Blackrock at about 01:50.

It is understood that shots were fired from a car at a parked car, while two men walked past. The car then sped off.

No one was injured in the incident.

A car thought to have been used in the shooting was found a short time later at the Marina in Cork city. It had been burnt out.

The scene of the shooting and the burnt out car have been preserved pending forensic examination.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.

Fatal Shooting In Cork City
An investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in Cork City on Tuesday, 26 April. Gardaí in Togher were called to a house on Plunkett Road, Ballyphehane, at about 4.30pm on Tuesday. A 41-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains have been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

Man Due In Court Charged With Cork City Shooting
A 29-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning in connection with a shooting incident in Cork City on Sunday, 15 May. The man has been charged in connection with the investigation into an incident where a firearm was discharged shortly after 1am at Hollwell Estate. He appeared before Cork District Court 1 this morning Wednesday, 18 May.
