DCC Order Removal Of 'Traditional' Shopfront

Dublin City Council has ordered a fast-food chain in the city's Temple Bar to remove its shopfront as it is "too traditional".

The council say that the shopfronts and signage of Supermac's and its sister outlet, Papa John's, is unauthorised and "inappropriate on what is an important thoroughfare through the conservation area of Temple Bar."

Supermac's moved into the former Hungry Harry's, which closed after being twice refused permission to operate a takeaway.

It is understood that Supermac's will appeal the council's order.
