Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds Dies Aged 81

Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds has died aged 81.

Reynolds, born in Rooskey, Co Roscommon, served as a minister in a number of governmental departments and was elected Taoiseach on two occasions.

He has been honoured as playing an integral role in the Northern Ireland peace process.

His death was announced by his eldest son, Philip Reynolds.

Co Wicklow Body Found
A state pathologist is investigating a body found near Bray Head in Co Wicklow. Although the body has yet to be formerly identified, relatives of missing 78 year-old Maura Reynolds have arrived at the scene. Gardai were not able to disclose at this stage what clothing was found with remains or the sex of the individual.

Report Declares "Endemic Corrution" In Irish Politics
The final report published yesterday from the Mahon Tribunal declared that corruption affected every level of government from cabinet ministers to local councillors during two decades of political dominance by Fianna Fáil. The report accused former taoiseach Bertie Ahern of untruthfulness.

Albert Reynolds' Funeral Arrangements Revealed
Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds will be laid to rest with a State funeral on Monday 25 August. The funeral will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, Donnybrook, Dublin on Monday at 12pm. It is understood that there will be limited seating, but that the mass will be broadcast outside the church.

'Big' Tom McBride Dies Aged 81
The Irish music industry has "lost a legend", Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Arts and TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth has said following the announcement of the death of Big Tom McBride. Deputy Smyth, said: "I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Big Tom this morning. He was an Irish music legend and a true gentleman.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny Meets With French President Francois Hollande
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has met with French President, Francois Hollande, to discuss a range of EU counter-terrorism measures and the impact of the UK's Brexit decision. During the meeting the Taoiseach reiterated the sympathy and solidarity of the Irish people with France in the wake of the attack in Nice on 14 July.
