Thousands Join Pro-Choice Rally In Dublin City Centre

A pro-choice rally in O'Connell Street in Dublin has been attended by around 2,000 people.

The demonstration was arranged to protest Ireland's current abortion laws, with banners that read: "repeal the 8th" and "I am not a vessel".

Organised by Choice Ireland and the Abortion Rights campaign, amongst others, the demonstration follows the latest abortion controversy, in which a woman who became pregnant after being raped was allegedly refused an abortion.

A series of rally's were held across Ireland, north and south, in Cork, Galway, Limerick and Belfast.

Another rally is due to take place on O'Connell Street on Saturday.
