Calls To Consider Cavan For Housing Development
Joe O'Reilly, Fine Gael TD for Cavan/Monaghan, has said that Cavan should be considered as a potential location for housing development.
In a statement, he explained: "Cavan is a prime location for additional housing and is ready to absorb increased population. It is wonderful to be in this position but it is also crucial that Government and our Local Authority begin to capitalise on this.
"Speaking to people on the ground, over recent months it has become clear that there is an increased demand for houses to buy and to rent in Cavan. With this in mind I have made representations to the Minister for Housing promoting Cavan as a prime location for development.
"Huge investment has been made by the Government in Cavan, in particular in water and sewerage systems which are essential to construction. As this infrastructure is now in place, Cavan is ready for growth."
+With the millions being invested in local infrastructure, O'Reilly concluded: "I believe that the Government should encourage renewed construction in County Cavan and I will work with my colleagues to explore the options to make this possible.
"We need to promote Cavan's attributes, use existing planning permission within reason and incentivise building for those in the construction sector."
