Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Dublin
A viable improvised explosive device (IED) has been made safe in Dublin, it has been confirmed.
It is understood the device was discovered in the garden of a private residence on Thursday evening by the homeowner.
A bomb disposal team attended the scene in Ronanstown, Co Dublin. Some homes were evacuated, while road closures were also put in place.
According to the Army, the device is said to have been found in an overgrown area of the garden and may have been there for some time.
The device was taken apart at the scene and at around 9.30pm, the scene was declared safe.
An investigation is now under way.

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes while army bomb disposal experts made the device safe. The Defence Forces deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) who made the device safe at the scene.

Army bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a pipe bomb hidden underneath a car in west Dublin. In just the latest such incident, gardaí were alerted to the device in Ballyfermot at around 8.30am on Monday. The Defence Forces' bomb disposal team were called to the scene at Blackditch Road.
