Man Charged Over Hospital Murder
A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder following an incident which occurred on the grounds of St Otteran's Hospital, Waterford, on Friday.
Paul Cuddihy has been charged with the murder of Marie O'Brien, 55, who was a patient at the psychiatric hospital. The mother-of-three died near a residential home on the grounds of the hospital.
Two other women, reported to be a patient and a staff member, were also injured in the attack.
Mr Cuddihy, with an address at the same hospital, appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Sunday evening. He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again next Tuesday.

Ian Harmon, 47, from Carrigallen, Mountain Lodge, Cootehill, County Cavan, was arrested last night over the death of 82-year-old Michael Treanor at Cavan General Hospital on the 27th June 2011 .

Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.
