Investigation Underway After Schoolgirl Shot With Pellet Gun
An investigation has been launched after a schoolgirl was shot in the face with a pellet gun.
Gardaí say that the incident happened outside St Joseph's Secondary School in Tulla on Friday afternoon. A teenage boy is understood to have been questioned in connection with the incident.
"Gardaí were notified of the incident which happened after school hours. All those involved are juveniles and students of the school. The pellet gun was discharged in the direction of a group of students and one was hit by a single pellet," a Garda spokesman said.
"We have interviewed the alleged offender, a juvenile, in the presence of his parents and that matter will be dealt with by our juvenile liaison officer.
"Pellet guns can very very dangerous and cause serious injury and that could easily have happened in this case."

Woman Shot In Leg In Cork
A woman is recovering in hospital after she was shot in the leg in Cork yesterday evening. An altercation occurred on the Kilmore Road in Knocknaheeny at around 6.30pm. The woman, in her 20s, has been transferred to Cork University Hospital, however her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai Question Man Following Gun Attack
A man, 19, is being questioned by gardai after an 18-year-old was shot at around 3pm in Memorial Park, Inchicore. The victim was shot in the head and neck and is believed to be in a critical condition in hospital. It is understood the teen managed to call the emergency services from his mobile phone.
