Funeral Of Former DUP Leader Ian Paisley To Be Held Today

The funeral of Northern Ireland's former First Minister Ian Paisley is to be held today.

Ian Paisley was a founding member of the Democratic Unionist Party and help establish the Free Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland following a split with the Presbyterian Church.

He died on Friday aged 88. A statement released by his wife, Baroness Eileen Paisley, confirmed Mr Paisley's death.

He will be buried today in County Down, Northern Ireland, following a private service at his east Belfast home.

NI's Stormont Assembly will pay tribute to Mr Paisley at noon today before suspending business for the day.

Ian Paisley, a founder and former leader of the Democratic Unionist Party in Northern Ireland, has died aged 88. A statement from Baroness Eileen Paisley, Mr Paisley's wife, confirmed that he had died on Friday morning. The statement read: "Although ours is the grand hope of reunion, naturally as a family, we are heartbroken.
