Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Cork Hit-And-Run

Gardaí in Cork have appealed for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Cork at about 19:30 on Tuesday.

A 71-year-old woman is being treated in hospital after she was knocked off her bicycle at Haymount, Lower Woodstock in Carrigtwohill.

Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Gardaí say that a man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the Lower Woodstock area of Carrigtwohill and has any information is asked to contact Midleton Garda Station 021-4621550.

The incident happened at about 20:05 last night as the elderly man was walking in the town. He was pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital shortly before midnight.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Serious Knife Assault In Cork City
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a knife attack in Cork city in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that a 38-year-old man was stabbed three times outside a house at Croaghtamore Square in Glasheen, in the southside of the city, at about 01:30 on Sunday. One of the stab wounds pierced the man's heart.

Gardaí In Cork Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal M8 Car Crash
Gardaí in Cork have reported the death of a 28-year-old in a road accident on the M8 between Mitchelstown and Fermoy. The man is understood to have been in a car that collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle. Two women in the second vehicle are being treated at Cork University Hospital. The 71-year-old driver is understood to be seriously injured.

Witnesses Sought To Fatal Motorcycle Collision
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a serious collision in Co Cork on Tuesday evening. At about 8pm, a man aged in his 40s, died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at Lough Beg, Ringaskiddy. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem.
