Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Shooting In Dublin

An investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Balbriggan, Co Dublin on Thursday morning.

Gardaí say that a man aged in his 30s was shot dead while he sat in his car on Clonard Street just after 9am yesterday.

A woman who was also in the suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

It is understood the man and woman had just left a child off at a nearby school when a lone gunman, wearing a balaclava, approached the car and fired several shots.

Garda have issued an appeal for witnesses to the shooting to contact them in Balbriggan on 01-8020510.

Gardai are investigating the shooting incident, which occured at Summerhill in Dublin at 8.40pm last night. Man Released Following Dublin Shooting
A man has been released without charge after being questioned in connection with the shooting of a boy in Dublin on Friday. The six-year-old was shot in the neck in Ballyfermot. A man was detained on suspicion of withholding information. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.

Five Held Over Fatal Shooting
Five men are to be questioned by garda in connection with a fatal shooting in Co Meath yesterday. Peter Butterly from Dunleer was shot dead as he sat in a car outside the Huntsman Inn bar at around 2.30pm. The father of three is believed to have had links to dissident republican activity. Four men, all in their 20s, were arrested at the scene.
