Storms Leave Thousands Without Power
Thousands of people have been left without power to their homes and businesses following story weather across Ireland overnight.
ESB has said its crews have been working to restore power to its customers, but as many as 3,000 still remained without electricity this afternoon.
The worst affected areas are said to be Gorey in Co Wexford, and Rathdrum in Co Wicklow.
Motorists have also been warned to exercise caution when driving due to surface water and flooding in many areas, while fallen trees and debris have made conditions hazardous.
While weather warnings from Met Éireann have now expired, heavy showers are to be expected for the rest of the day.
In the north of Ireland, the storms left around 6,500 homes without power.
