Asylum Seekers Protest Over Application Delays
Some 160 residents at Birchwood House in Waterford are staging a protest over conditions and the direct provision system.
The asylum seekers began their protest at about 6am on Wednesday morning, locking staff out of the facility on the Ballytruckle Road and preventing deliveries from being made.
It is understood that they are angry about delays in the processing of applications for asylum.

Plans To House Asylum Seekers In Rooskey Hotel Abandoned
Plans to open an accommodation facility for asylum seekers in Rooskey, County Leitrim, have been abandoned by the government. The disused Shannon Key West Hotel had been earmarked for the centre, but the Department of Justice has confirmed the plans will not go ahead following a leasing issue.

Sinn Féin Publish 10 Point Plan For Refugee Crisis
Sinn Féin have submitted a 10 point plan to address the ongoing refugee crisis to the government. Announcing the action plan, Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said: "The recent track record of this State in supporting and protecting asylum seekers is frankly shameful considering our unique history of emigration.
