Over 5,000 Pupils Appeal Leaving Cert Marks

The State Examinations Commission has reported that a total of 1,673 Leaving Certificate marks were upgraded on appeal this year.

The figures show that 5,447 Leaving Cert pupils appealed their results, questioning a total of 9,267 results.

When a grade is appealed the entire test is remarked, question by question. This year almost 1,700 were upgraded, three were marked down.

1,600 Leaving Cert Upgrades Awarded
Over 1,600 Leaving Certificate grades achieved this year were upgraded upon appeal, according to information revealed by the State Examinations Commission today. The news comes as Irish Leaving Cert. students await the news of their appeals, which will be updated at midday. Some 370,491 grades were issued to 55,572 candidates this year.
