Sinn Féin Match Fine Gael In Popularity Poll For First Time
An Irish Times/Ipsos MROBI poll has revealed that for the first time Sinn Féin is level with Fine Gael in popular support.
Other results show that Labour support has increased slightly since the Cabinet reshuffle in the summer. Tánaiste Joan Burton is now the most popular party leader.
The poll asked, if an election was held tomorrow, who would you vote for:
24% chose Fine Gael, showing no change; 24% chose Sinn Féin, up four points; 20% chose Fianna Fáil, down five points; 9% chose Labour, an increase of 2 points; and 23% chose Independents/Others, which was down one point.
The poll was compiled from a representative sample of 1,200, over 18 voters, in face-to-face interviews at 100 sampling points across all constituencies.

Mitchell Rejects Opinion Poll
Fine Gael Presidential candidate Gay Mitchell has discarded the findings of the latest opinion poll while fellow Labour candidate Michael D Higgins has rejected claims that he is too old to run for Aras. The Red C Poll published in Sunday’s Business Post showed Mr Mitchell having dropped a further two points, since the last poll, to 8%.

The Irish Times/ Ipsos MRBI poll says that support for Fianna Fail has fallen to just 17%, a fall of seven points since September 30, while support for the Taoiseach has sank five points to 14%.

A new Ipsos/MRBI poll, published in tomorrow's Irish Times, shows a sharp drop in satisfaction with the Government, the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste, and a surge in support for Sinn Féin, Independents and smaller parties. Sinn Féin is now the second most popular party in the State, the poll has found.

FG And Labour Ratings Slump
Fine Gael and Labour's ratings have significantly dropped, while independents and smaller parties have won substantial increases, according to the latest Irish Times/Ipsos MRBI opinion poll. Fine Gael have dropped 5 percentage points to 19%, while Labour's approval has fallen 3 points to 6%.
