Man Remanded Over Threats To Kill Gardaí

A 49-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with threatening to kill a gardaí officer.

The Garda Emergency Response Unit arrested Paschal Kelly, with an address in Cormeen, Ballyjamesduff, in Co Westmeath on Thursday night.

Gardaí say that he has been charged with failing to file tax returns, road traffic offences, including dangerous driving and endangerment and threatening to kill a garda.

He was remanded in custody to Clover Hill District Court next week.

Man In Court Over Clontarf Murder
A 41-year-old man is due in court this afternoon charged in connection with the murder of Finbar Dennehy. Mr Dennehy, 50, was found dead in his apartment last Wednesday stabbed to death in Clontarf, Dublin. The suspect has been in police custody since Saturday night when he was arrested by Gardai at a guesthouse in Dublin city centre at around 8pm.

Gardaí Back Calls For Stolen Phone "Kill Switch"
With a notable increase in the theft of mobile phones gardaí have called for the introduction of a "kill switch" that would immediately disable a stolen phone. Currently, a stolen mobile phone can only be disabled if the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number is known, which is a 15-digit code unique to each phone.

Teenage Girl Arrested Over Unexploded Device
A teenage girl is being held by Gardaí in connection with the discovery of an unexploded device in County Limerick. Gardaí said they are investigating the discovery of what is believed to be an improvised explosive device at St Mary’s Park, Limerick city centre.
