Trucks Blockade Dublin Port
Truck drivers have created a blockade at Dublin Port in a protest over higher road tax in Ireland, and a newly introduced tax on lorries and trucks entering the UK.
Drivers with the Irish Road Hauliers Association (IRHA) blocked access to the East Wall Road, with the group claiming that currently members are being charged €4,000 in road tax per year for a six axle truck, which is five times higher that the current rate in the UK.
The protest was also aimed a new £10 levy on truck entering the UK.
The IRHA said that things need to change or up to 50,000 employees in the sector could be at risk.
