Appeal Following Carjacking In Longford
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following an alleged assault and carjacking incident in Longford.
Shortly before 6pm on Wednesday (29 October), a woman in her 40s was confronted at knife point by two males as she returned to her car on Ballymahon Street, Longford.
She was forced into the vehicle by the men and driven from the scene at speed. The car was observed and followed by Gardaí.
A short time later the car left the road and struck a ditch. This occurred on the Athlone Road.
Following the crash, the woman was taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A male, in his 20s, was also taken to Tullamore Hospital for injuries, while a second male fled the scene on foot.
A short time later, Gardaí arrested a man a short distance away. He is currently being detained at Longford Garda Station.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the carjacking and are asking for anyone who was in the vicinity of a car park – known locally as Heaton's Car Park – on Ballymahon Street, Longford, between 5.30pm and 6pm to contact them.

Status Yellow Rainfall Warning Issued Across 11 Counties
Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow weather warning for rain across 11 counties. The warning, which came into effect at 7am this morning, is in place for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan. The warning will remain in place until 6am tomorrow, when it will be reviewed.

The contracts are for the construction of the 470 lodges and 30 apartments as well as the state-of-the-art centre buildings, which house the Center Parcs Subtropical Swimming Paradise, restaurants, bars and shops.

Shots Fired At House In Longford Town
A number of shots were fired at a house outside Longford town last night. Nobody was injured and minor damage was caused to the house on the Dublin Road. The attack happened just before midnight. It is believed the incident is the latest in a series of attacks, in connection with a feud between families and travellers in the area.

An investigation has been launched following a shooting incident in County Longford. Gardaí are investigating after a number of shoots were fired at a house in the Lisnanagh area of Edgeworthstown at about 8.30pm on Monday night.

Woman Dies Following Road Accident
An elderly woman has died following a road traffic incident in Dublin. The victim, who was 75, was struck by a marked garda patrol car shortly before 11.30am on Thursday. The accident happened on the Fonthill Road in Clondalkin. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital, but later died from the injuries she sustained.
