Man Arrested Over Hammer Attack On Lidl Store

A man has been arrested in connection with a hammer attack on a Lidl store in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

According to reports a man, aged in his 20s, used a hammer to smash his way into the Lidl outlet in the early hours of Monday morning.

The man triggered the alarm when he smashed the window, however it is believed he caused an estimated €100,000 worth of damage to the inside of the store by the time garda arrived.

The man is expected to appear before the District Court later today.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Elderly Pub Owner Hurt In Sligo Raid
An elderly man is recovering in hospital after being beaten during a raid on a rural pub in Sligo. Gardaí in the area are investigating the armed raid which took place at Quigley’s pub in Collooney owned by two elderly brothers. A technical examination of the scene is being carried out this morning.
