HSE Publish 2015 National Service Plan

The HSE is to receive an additional €35m for mental health services, according to its 2015 National Service Plan (NSP) published today.

Budget 2015 provides for the delivery of health and social care services within the funding allocation of €12.131bn net revenue budget.

The funding allocation includes an additional €625m as part of the two-year programme to increase health funding and as the first step in establishing a multi-annual funding approach. As the additional €625m includes the €510m deficit in 2014, the net increase in funding for 2015 is €115m.

Director General of the HSE, Tony O'Brien, said: "The National Service Plan 2015 reflects the HSE's central challenge which will be to operate within the resources made available to it, while delivering existing levels of service, some targeted improvements and continuing the health service reform programme.

"The additional funding provided will support the HSE in maintaining existing levels of service. It will not however be sufficient to fully address the increasing demands being placed on our hospital system, in particular the growing waiting lists for elective admissions.

"Furthermore it has not been possible to secure funding for the full amount of the HSE's 2015 Estimates requests, and there are some additional service pressures which will fall to be addressed in future years."
