Man Arrested Over County Meath Murders

Gardaí have arrested a male in his 50s in the Meath area, as part of investigations into the murders of Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan.

The two men's bodies were found on an island in Lough Sheelin, Co Meath, on 26 May 2014. Both had been reported missing on 22 April 2014.

The man was detained yesterday at Kells Garda Station. This is the third arrest to date in relation to this investigation.

Two men were arrested in the Cavan area on the morning of 11 June 2014.

Supt Sean Farrell who is leading the investigation said they are making an appeal to anyone who:



• may have seen a Grey Ford Focus 04 D 46380 on the road or in the vicinity of Lough Sheelin near the townland of Ross, Mount Nugent between 20 and 25 April 2014 or anywhere close to the Cavan/Meath border.



• may have been fishing or sailing on the lake on 22 and 23 April, or who may have been walking on the shoreline on those dates.

Man Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Michael Devoy Released
A man arrested in connection with the murder of Michael Devoy has been released without charge. The body of the 41-year-old, from Ballymun in Dublin, was found at Foxhill on 18 January 2014. A man in his 20s was being questioned by officers at Tallaght Garda Station. He has since been released. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

40% Rise On Number Of Patients Left On Hospital Trolleys
There has been a 40% increase in the number of patients left on trolleys compared to August 2014, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO). The INMO has repeated its call for an immediate meeting of the High Level Implementation Group to agree further measures to alleviate the crisis.

Students who yesterday received their Leaving Cert results have been urged to "remember that they have plenty of options." Former teacher and Fine Gael Dun Laoghaire TD Mary Mitchell O’ Connor, said that while results day will have been "a very good day" for most students, there will have been some disappointed with the results.

Man Arrested In Connection With 2014 Saggart Murder
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Andy Connors in August 2014. Mr Connors was shot a number of times at Boherboy, Saggart, Co Dublin on 19 August, 2014. Garda investigating the murder arrested a man in west Dublin this morning, 24 May.
