Man Arrested Over County Meath Murders

Gardaí have arrested a male in his 50s in the Meath area, as part of investigations into the murders of Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan.

The two men's bodies were found on an island in Lough Sheelin, Co Meath, on 26 May 2014. Both had been reported missing on 22 April 2014.

The man was detained yesterday at Kells Garda Station. This is the third arrest to date in relation to this investigation.

Two men were arrested in the Cavan area on the morning of 11 June 2014.

Supt Sean Farrell who is leading the investigation said they are making an appeal to anyone who:



• may have seen a Grey Ford Focus 04 D 46380 on the road or in the vicinity of Lough Sheelin near the townland of Ross, Mount Nugent between 20 and 25 April 2014 or anywhere close to the Cavan/Meath border.



• may have been fishing or sailing on the lake on 22 and 23 April, or who may have been walking on the shoreline on those dates.

Man Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Michael Devoy Released
A man arrested in connection with the murder of Michael Devoy has been released without charge. The body of the 41-year-old, from Ballymun in Dublin, was found at Foxhill on 18 January 2014. A man in his 20s was being questioned by officers at Tallaght Garda Station. He has since been released. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Customs Seize 120,000 Illegal Cigarettes
Cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €57,000 have been seized by customs officers at Cork Airport. Some 120,000 Marlboro cigarettes were discovered in 12 suitcases that had arrived on a flight from Wroclaw, Poland. Garda arrested two men, understood to be Polish nationals, in connection with the find.

Man Arrested Over €400,000 Cannabis Find
Cannabis with an estimated value of €400,000 has been seized in Co Donegal. Members of the Revenue and Gardaí uncovered the drugs during a search at Castlefin on Tuesday. Garda arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the find.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.
