Tánaiste Rules Out Rent Control
The use of rent control will be considered despite rising rents, Tánaiste Joan Burton has said.
The Tánaiste was responding to figures published today by the Private Residential Tenancies Board revealed that rents are continuing to rise.
Ms Burton, acknowledged that rents continued to rise, but said that the government had introduced a flexible system rent supplement support for people at risk of becoming homeless, according to a report by RTÉ.
The Tánaiste added that if people were concerned about rent or had issues with their landlord, they should speak to an organisation such as Threshold.

Govt Passes Rent Reform Bill
Ireland's Residential Tenancies Bill has passed all stages of the Dáil and Seanad, it has been announced. The Bill is now expected to be signed into law by the president as soon as possible. The Bill will bring a number of major reforms to the private rental sector in Ireland, providing rent certainty and safeguards for both tenants and landlords.
