Irish Family Seriously Injured In Australia
Three members of the same family are said to be in a serious condition following a road accident in western Australia.
Gerard and Marguerite Brosnan, who are from Killarney in Co Kerry, were in Australia visiting two of their daughters who live in Perth. It is understood the vehicle the family was travelling in collided with another car.
The accident happened shortly before 10.30pm on Sunday night, but details have just been released.
The driver of the car the Brosnans were travelling in died in the crash. They are believed to have been Australian.
The five passengers, who had to be cut free from the wreckage, are in hospital. Mr Brosnan, 55, is said to be in the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition. His wife is also serious but stable, as is their 28-year-old daughter, Karen.
It is understood the driver of the other car was not injured in the incident, but was arrested at the scene. He has since been charged with drink-driving. According to reports, the accused, aged 20, also faces two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Perth Magistrates' Court next month.

A man, aged in his late 30s, died and two teenagers were injured in a collision involving a van and a tractor on the R522 regional road at Ballincurrig, between Buttevant and Liscarroll in north Cork on Monday, 04 June.
