Aer Lingus Considers New Takeover Proposal

Aer Lingus is considering a new takeover offer from International Airlines Group (IAG).

The improved offer was revealed in a statement made by the airline to the Stock Exchange this morning, which stated it had received a new offer of €2.55 per share and it was being considered by the board.

The offer values the company at about €1.3 billion.

It is understood the new offer remains conditional on the acceptance by the airlines two largest shareholders – Ryanair and the Government.

Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe said the Government would give careful consideration to any takeover of Aer Lingus.
