Garda Officer Shot During Mugging In New Orleans
A 32-year-old garda officer has been shot in an attempted mugging while on holiday in New Orleans, according to a report by RTÉ.
The report states that Garda Brian Hanrahan, from Killenaule, Tipperary, was shot in a mugging at about 05:40 on Tuesday morning.
Garda Hanrahan, who is stationed at Newcastle West in Limerick, is said to be in a stable condition in hospital and his injuries are "not life threatening".

A man has been detained in connection with the discovery of a body in Co Clare. The body of the 27-year-old was found outside a house in Kilrush this morning. The victim was found shot dead in the garden of a house on O'Gorman Street at around 10.30am.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has committed to increase garda numbers to 15,000, double the number of garda reserve officers and increase the number of civilian workers in An Garda Síochána to free up officers for frontline policing. The Taoiseach made his comments in a statement addressing the newly published O'Higgins Commission Report.

Two Men Arrested In Connection With Clonsilla Murder
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Keith Walker. Mr Walker was fatally shot on Shelerin Road, Clonsilla on Friday 12 June. The men, aged 36 and 38, were arrested on Sunday in Dublin. They are being detained under the provisions of section 50 Criminal Justice Act 1997 at Finglas and Blanchardstown Garda stations.
