Live Register Figures Continue To Fall
New statistics have revealed a further fall in the Live Register figures.
It now marks the 38th consecutive month of decreasing numbers of people signing on.
Over the past 12 months, all eight regions in Ireland showed a fall in live register. In January 2015, the fall was around 1,300 more than the same month in 2014, while the drop in during 2014 was 10,000 larger than that during 2013.
In gross terms, the figures said more than 141,000 people left the live register to take up work during 2014, with the exit rate from the live register into work running at almost 40%. This is up from 33% in 2012.
Welcoming the statistics, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, said: "Every job created is a life changed, a family improved, a community enhanced.
"It is by increasing job creation that we can grow tax revenues and ultimately improve people's lives through better services and tax cuts. That is why we have placed job-creation at the very heart of the Government's agenda.
"Today's figures offer further confirmation that the plan is working. However, with unemployment still at 10.5% and many people around the country yet to feel the benefits, we have a long way to go."
