Seven New Schools To Be Developed Across Ireland

Seven new primary schools are to be developed across Ireland within the next two years.

Four of the schools will open in 2015 with the other three opening in 2016.

The schools are to be established in Cork, Dublin, Galway and Wicklow.

One school will be in Cork, four in Dublin, one in Galway and one in Wicklow.

The basic construction costs for the seven new schools is expected to be in the region of €24m. This level of investment by the State will support some 240 direct jobs and 48 indirect jobs.

A shed manufacturing company is to create 100 new jobs in Tuam, Co Galway. Steeltech Sheds is to relocate its business from Headford Road in Galway to the former Coca-Cola factory in Tuam and will recruit new staff between now and 2017. The company currently employs 100 staff at bases in Cork, Dublin, Carlow and Athlone.

New Schools Construction Begins
The Minister for Education and Skills has welcomed the start of construction today of eight schools which are being delivered under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. These are the first public sector projects to be funded under the PPP model since June 2010.
