Retail Chain Recall Found Over Allergy Mislabelling

Retail chain Aldi has recalled its Fiesta Fajita Dinner Kit, due to missing information on the foods allergy advice label.

It follows the discovery of low levels of almond protein in the seasoning mix, which is not listed on the label.

Customers with an almond allergy or intolerance have been advised not to eat the product.

Anyone who bought the product is being advised to return it to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

Aldi Announces Minimum Wage Increase
Supermarket chain Aldi has announced that it will increase its minimum rate of pay to €11.50 per hour. Announcing the new rate of pay, which will come into affect on 01 February, 2016, Aldi Ireland said the chain has enjoyed a significant sustained sales growth and store expansion.

Ireland Has EU's Highest Rate Of Ecoli
The number E.coli cases reported in Ireland is more than five times the EU average, doubling in the space of a year, according to a report published today. The study into Verotoxigenic E.Coli, which affects the digestive system, was compiled by the European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) who said that some 225 cases were reported in 2008.

Bench Warrant Issued For Youth
Police are now looking for a youngster who failed to turn up in a Dublin court this week. A warrant has been issued by the Dublin Children’s Court for the arrest of the 14-year-old boy. The truanting north Dublin boy failed to turn up for a hearing, resulting in Judge Ann Ryan issuing a bench warrant for his arrest.

Employers Urged To Follow Example Of Aldi And Living Wage
Employers in Ireland have been encouraged to examine the business and social case for the Living Wage and the benefits it can bring to their staff. Minister for Business and Employment, Ged Nash, made the recommendation following an announcement that Aldi would adopt the Living Wage for all it's staff in Ireland.
