Childcare Sector Workers Take Protest To Leinster House
Around 1,000 protesters have gathered outside Leinster House to call for better funding of the childcare sector.
The Association of Childhood Professionals claim that around 25,000 workers in the sector earn an average pay of less than €11 an hour.
It is calling on the government to introduce a national pay scale for the sector alongside more investment. The group claims that the current pay system means workers are "effectively subsidising" early childhood care and education, which was a situation that could "not continue".
