SIPTU Concerned Over UPC Ireland Jobs

UPC Ireland have announced a "restructuring plan" raising fears for up to 170 jobs, the trade union SIPTU said.

The union claims that some of UPC's operations are to be moved to the Philippines, with others being amalgamated.

It is feared that such action will lead to "substantial job losses" in Dublin and Limerick, and possibly smaller losses in Galway, Cork and Waterford.

SIPTU added that it plans to meet with UPC management on Friday to begin discussions.
