Marriage Equality Referendum Slated For 22 May

The same-sex marriage referendum is slated to be held on Friday 22 May.

The date was suggested by Taoiseach Enda Kenny during an interview on RTÉ's Prime Time, during which the Taoiseach said the referendum was about tolerance, respect and sensitivity.

Mr Kenny added that he hoped support for the referendum, the wording of which was agreed last month, would hold up and that most members of the Oireachtas are in favour of it.
