Five Irish Billionaires Make Rich List
Five men from Ireland have made it onto the world's Rich List.
The Forbes Rich List revealed Pallonji Mistry, an Indian construction tycoon, is the richest man in Ireland with a fortune of €14.5bn. The businessman, who is 85 years old, became an Irish citizen in 2003.
Denis O'Brien, was the second Irishman on the list, with a net worth of €6.08bn. Interestingly, he is the richest Irish citizen to be born in the country.
The third Irish person on the list is entrepreneur Martin Naughton with a personal fortune of €2.5bn. John Dorrance III, the heir of Campbells Soup, is fourth on the list. Forbes has said the American-born Irish citizen is worth €2.3bn.
The final Irish billionaire to feature is 64-year-old businessman Dermot Desmond. He has a fortune of €1.5bn.
Meanwhile, the richest man in the world is said to be Microsoft founder Bill Gates, with a fortune of €70.6bn. He has held the title for 16 out of the last 21 years. The highest earning woman on the rich list was Christy Walton, the widow of John Walton – a founder of Wal-Mart stores – with a net worth of €37.3bn.
