Attempted Abduction In Co Laois

Gardaí have appealed for information following an attempted abduction in Co Laois on Wednesday.

The alleged incident, which has been described as "serious", happened in Cullahill, Co Laois at around 11am yesterday (4 March).

Gardaí are looking help in tracing the whereabouts of a silver Nissan X-Trail 4 x 4 vehicle, registration number believed to be 04 KK 2649 in relation to the incident. The vehicle was seen acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident. It is understood the 4x4 was reported stolen in the Co Kilkenny area on the 3 March.

The male driver is described as approximately 6'2", of thin build and with grey hair.

Two Killed In Co Laois Road Accident
Two people have died following a road traffic accident in Co Laois. At around 6am this morning (25 July), a bike and a van collided on the N80 Portlaoise to Carlow road, between the village of Arles and Simmons Mill. It is understood a motorcyclist and pillion passenger were killed in the incident.

Status Yellow Rainfall Warning Issued Across 11 Counties
Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow weather warning for rain across 11 counties. The warning, which came into effect at 7am this morning, is in place for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan. The warning will remain in place until 6am tomorrow, when it will be reviewed.

Water Conservation Orders Lifted As Rainfall Increases
Irish Water has announced the water conservation orders have been lifted in the Southern, Eastern and Midlands regions. The areas that have had their order lifted include: Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Cork, Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Meath, Westmeath, Louth and Dublin.

Man Injured In Car Crash
A man has been injured in a crash outside Athlone. The single vehicle incident happened at approximately 6.50am this morning at Ballynahown. The drivers injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai in Athlone are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 090 649-8-550.

Man Dies In Co Laois Road Crash
Gardaí in Co Laois have reported the death of a 47-year-old following a road crash on the M7 Dublin-Limerick road. The crash happened near Portlaoise shortly before 10pm on Thursday night. According to gardaí, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was reopened on Friday morning following a technical examination.
