Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe has announced new guidelines for speed limits for rural roads and housing estates.
Under the guidelines, new provisions will be made for 'slow zones' within housing estates, along with 80km/h speed limit signs on rural roads being replaced with new ones to encourage drivers to "drive at appropriate speeds".
The new 'slow zones' will have a maximum speed limit of 30km/h while also featuring signs highlighting vulnerable people in the area.
