Vehicle Thefts By Men Posing As Garda Investigated

Gardaí are investigating vehicle thefts believed to have been carried out by men posing as garda officers.

According to reports a blue Nissan Qashqai was stolen at about 5am on Saturday morning near Ashbourne, Co Meath.

It is understood that the Qashqai was driving on the N2 to Navan when a saw a silver Vauxhall Vectra behind him turned on flashing blue lights, used by garda to instruct drivers to stop.

The man stopped his car and two men instructed him to get out of his car. He was told that he had been stopped for speeding. Under the pretence of searching the car, one of the men got into the drivers seat of the Qashqai and drove off, followed by the Vectra.

According to a report by Irish Independent, a similar incident occurred in Trim, Co Meath, when a man was pulled over by a car with blue flashing lifts. In that incident the driver was hit over the head before his Ford Transit was stolen.

Three Arrest Over Youtube Driving Video
Three men are being questioned by gardaí and two cars have been seized after a video posted on YouTube showed a group of young men from Nenagh, Co Tipperary, driving dangerously on a country road. The video, clearly displays the registration plates of the cars along with the faces of the young men involved, who are each identified by nickname.

Two Men Missing For Almost A Month
Gardai in County Kildare are appealing to the public for assistance finding two men missing since the 23rd July. David Lyndsay, aged 38, and Alan Napper, 39, were last seen at approximately 5.00pm on Wednesday, 23rd July, 2008, at Clane, Co. Kildare. The pair were in a black three door Volkswagen Golf, registration number, 05-KE-11419.

Eight Arrested Over Modified Car Rally
Eight people, a woman and seven men, have been arrested in County Clare for participating in an illegal modified car rally. All eight were charged in connection with the incident and released on bail. They will appear before Ennis District on 23 April 2014.

Two Arrested After M50 Car Chase
Two men have been arrested following a car chase on the M50. Gardaí have said that a man and a woman had travelled to a car park in Naas in order to meet with another person about selling a silver BMW. It is understood that as the BMW attempted to leave, the car was blocked by another car and an SUV.

Two Men Killed In Separate Shooting Incidents
